The Mets fell 7-6 against the Phillies in Game 2 of the National League Division Series.


The Mets fell 7-6 on Sunday in Game 2 of the Division Series against the Phillies in another thrilling game. During the ninth inning, Trea Turner and Bryce Harper both drew two-out walks, setting the stage for Castellanos to hit a line-drive single to left field off Mets reliever Tylor Megill. This sparked a euphoric reaction from the 45,679-strong crowd. The series is now tied at one game apiece, with Game 3 scheduled for Tuesday at Citi Field. José Iglesias contributed a single in his 1-for-4 performance in the game, but also struck out twice. His current batting average stands at .182 with 4 hits in 22 at-bats and 5 strikeouts. Despite this, he is expected to be part of the lineup for Game 3, facing right-handed pitcher Aaron Nola.




 

Padres manage to tie the series despite an incident involving fans at Dodger Stadium on Sunday.


During Game 2 of the National League Division Series between the Padres and the Dodgers, fans threw baseballs towards San Diego left fielder Jurickson Profar and proceeded to throw trash onto the field, causing a significant delay. Despite this disruption, the Padres emerged victorious over the Los Angeles Dodgers with a score of 10-2, evening the NL Division Series at one game each. Yu Darvish effectively contained the Dodgers' potent offense, allowing only one run and three hits in seven innings, while Fernando Tatis Jr. hit two home runs, contributing to the Padres' record-tying six homers in the postseason. David Peralta and Jackson Merrill also hit two-run homers, and Xander Bogaerts and Kyle Higashioka added solo shots. It is worth mentioning that Merrill, at the age of only 21, became the youngest Padres player to hit a home run in the postseason. Following a poor showing on Saturday resulting in a loss, Adrián Morejón was inactive on Sunday but is anticipated to stay in the bullpen for the remainder of the series. Starting in Game 3 for the Dodgers will be RHP Walker Buehler, while RHP Michael King will take the mound for the Padres.


 

Néstor Cortés engaged in a game of catch on Sunday in preparation for Game 2 of the ALDS against the Royals scheduled for Monday.


According to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, Yankees' pitching coach Matt Blake reported that Néstor Cortés' catch session on Sunday was successful. Cortés is currently recovering from a left elbow flexor strain and aims to be ready to pitch in the ALCS should the Yankees advance. The fact that he threw without any issues on Sunday is a positive sign, and his next course of action will be determined by his response on Monday.
