With a 3.97 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 147:33 K:BB ratio over 163.1 innings this season, Cortés is likely to start against the Red Sox next week.
Yordan Alvarez records three hits during Saturday's game.
Yordan Alvarez continued his impressive performance by securing three hits in an 11-5 win against the D-backs on Saturday. Since moving to Chicago, Vargas has had opportunities in the starting lineup but is currently batting just .116/.230/.186 with a homer and 4 RBI across 27 games withy the team. He will need to make significant improvements if he hopes to secure a regular spot on the roster in 2025.
Andy Pagés was chosen to play in left field for the Dodgers on Friday.
In Saturday's victory over Cleveland, Andy Pagés hit a two-run homer, going 1-for-3. In his first at-bat, Pagés hit a two-out, two-run homer, increasing the Dodgers' lead to six runs. This marked his first home run since returning from the minors and his 10th of the season. Pagés has also recorded hits and RBIs in consecutive games. Yuli Gurriel was absent from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.
It was a positive sign to see Yulieski Gurriel return to Kansas City's lineup on Friday night after missing two games due to a minor hamstring strain. However, he was rested on Saturday, allowing Salvador Pérez to play first base. The 40-year-old is expected to continue as the regular first baseman for the Royals in the remaining games of the season. Gurriel has had a strong start in his first four games with the Royals, going 3-for-9 with two RBI and a run scored.
