Randy Arozarena achieves a 20-20 season.
Randy Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-1 defeat against the Athletics. In this game, Arozarena achieved his 20th steal of the season, marking the fifth consecutive year he has reached the 20-20 milestone. He accomplished this in just 106 games in 2025, compared to 154 games last year to reach the same marks. Alongside his impressive power and speed stats, Arozarena is hitting .247/.350/.463 with 52 RBIs, 60 runs scored, 23 doubles, and one triple this season. However, he has struggled recently, going just 6-for-36 (.167) over his last 10 games.
Aroldis Chapman earns a save by recording one out.
Aroldis Chapman struck out the sole batter he faced, securing a save against Minnesota on Tuesday. This marked Chapman's first game since experiencing back tightness against the Dodgers on Sunday. He displayed no injury symptoms during Tuesday's brief appearance; the experienced left-hander struck out Mickey Gasper in three pitches, concluding with a 101 mph sinker. Chapman boasts an impressive 1.29 ERA with a 62:13 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 42 innings. He has successfully converted 19 of his 21 save opportunities this season.
Yordan Alvarez targets a mid-August comeback.
According to Michael Schwab of The Ice Box Insider, Astros general manager Dana Brown mentioned on Wednesday that Yordan might be taken off the 60-day injured list by mid-August. Yordan is progressing through a hitting routine and might be prepared to face live pitching shortly. He will definitely need a rehab assignment, and any estimate for Yordan's return should be seen as tentative, considering the nature of his recovery. The power hitter has been out of action since early May due to a fracture in his right hand.
Edgar Quero had two hits on Tuesday.
Edgar Quero recorded two hits in four at-bats and scored a run during Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Phillies. Quero served as the designated hitter in this game, marking his fourth straight start in the lineup. Over this period, he has achieved 7 hits in 17 at-bats (.412), though he hasn't hit any home runs and has only one RBI.
Lázaro Estrada was sent back to Triple-A.
Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reported that the Blue Jays sent Lázaro Estrada to Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday. Estrada was the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader in Detroit, where he allowed six runs over 3.1 innings in the first game. The right-hander will rejoin the rotation in Buffalo.
Johan Oviedo gave up one run on two hits over five innings for Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Another alternative for the Pirates to call up instead of Bubba Chandler. Oviedo was placed on the 60-day IL in March due to lat and elbow issues he faced during spring training. The 27-year-old struck out five and didn't allow any walks on Tuesday, throwing 42 of 62 pitches for strikes. He currently has a 3.12 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with a 21/4 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings in his rehab and might be activated as early as next week.
Andy Ibáñez added two more hits.
Andy Ibáñez delivered a 2-for-2 performance with a double and an RBI in Detroit's 12-2 win over the D-backs on Tuesday. As a pinch hitter, he hit a RBI single and later achieved his sixth double of the season.. Since being called up on Monday, he is 4-for-6 with two doubles and a home run. Ibáñez is expected to maintain a utility role for the Tigers in 2025, but he will likely receive more playing time, especially against left-handed pitchers, if he continues to perform well. The 31-year old is slashing .240/.313/.390 in 224 at-bats across 48 games and 112 plate appearances this year.
Yoán Moncada was not included in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Rangers.
Yoán Moncada might have been benched anyway, as left-hander Patrick Corbin was pitching for Texas in this matchup. The 30-year-old third baseman missed starting his third consecutive game after being struck on the right hand by a pitch in Saturday's game against Seattle. In the sixth inning, he entered the game as a pinch hitter with two runners on base and the score tied at 4-4. He swiftly gave his team the lead with a two-run single. He finished the game 1-for-2, contributing two RBIs and scoring a run.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was absent from Tuesday's lineup.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was not included in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Arizona. Over the last three games, Gurriel has hit 4-for-12, but he hasn't recorded an extra-base hit since July 9 and has a .658 OPS in 20 games this month.
