José Iglesias has extended his hitting streak to 17 games.

On Tuesday, the 34-year-old versatile infielder continued his hitting streak by going 1-for-4 with a strikeout from the leadoff position in a 5-1 loss to the Braves. As noted last week when he reached 13, Iglesias has now achieved 17-game hitting streaks with six different teams— a feat previously only accomplished by Gary Sheffield, who played for eight teams, including the Mets, during his 22-year MLB career. Heading into today's game, Iglesias boasts an impressive .336/.379/.456 slash line over 80 games in New York, showcasing his abilities at second base, third base, and shortstop. Throughout his current 17-game hitting streak, he has amassed 27 hits in 66 at-bats (.409) with four doubles, three RBIs, and 13 runs scored.

Néstor Cortés, who was slated to start for the Yankees on Wednesday, is undergoing an MRI on his elbow, YES’s Jack Curry reports.

Néstor Cortés will undergo an MRI on his left elbow Wednesday, Jack Curry of YES Network reported. Cortés had been slated to start Wednesday's game against the Orioles, but his immediate future is now cloudy pending MRI results. The veteran left-hander has been excellent lately, allowing just one earned run over his last 15.1 innings of work and boasting a 1.58 ERA covering his last 40 frames. Marcus Stroman -- whose last outing was a three-inning relief appearance -- is a likely candidate to start Wednesday's contest. Cody Poteet is also expected to join the club at Yankee Stadium, although it's unclear whether he'll join the taxi squad or be added to the active roster.

Raisel Iglesias secures crucial victory.

Raisel Iglesias only required five pitches - four of which were strikes - to finish off a 5-1 triumph over the Mets on Tuesday evening. Following this victory, the Braves are now just one game behind the Mets and half a game behind the D-backs in the Wild Card standings in the National League. Although it wasn't a save opportunity for the Cuban pitcher, he has now extended his streak of scoreless appearances to four games since his struggle against the Dodgers on September 15. Iglesias has been exceptional this season, boasting a 1.76 ERA and 0.72 WHIP with 32 saves and a 66:13 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 2024.

Dairon Blanco reaches 30 stolen bases milestone

In Tuesday's 1-0 extra-inning victory against the Nationals, Dairon Blanco, despite going 0-for-1 at the plate, managed to steal a base. Blanco, who came in as a pinch runner, now has five stolen bases in eight games this month. Although Blanco has had limited playing time throughout the season, the Royals' recent outfield acquisitions via waivers in late August have reduced his opportunities. Nevertheless, Blanco is among the 23 players in the league to achieve 30 stolen bases this season, accomplishing this feat on 37 attempts (81.1% sucess rate) despite having only 129 plate appearances in 85 games.

Randy Arozarena has reached base in 13 consecutive games.

In the game against the Astros on Tuesday, Randy Arozarena had a 1-for-3 performance with an RBI ground-rule double and a walk. His double off ace Framber Valdéz briefly put the Mariners ahead 2-1 in the third inning, but they ultimately fell short, losing 4-3. Despite batting .241 over this span, the power hitter's .381 on-base percentage stands out, thanks to a walk rate of 14.1 percent, as he continues his streak of reaching base in 13 straight games.

Yuli Gurriel did not get any hits on Tuesday.

During a 1-0 win in extra innings against the Nationals, Yuli Gurriel went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Gurriel was playing as the designated hitter and batting cleanup for the Royals. This hitless performance extended his streak to 13 consecutive at-bats without a hit. His current season stats stand at .275/.367/.325 with 6 runs and 5 RBIs.

Cionel Pérez and Yennier Cano teamed up in Tuesday's game.

During a 5-3 victory over the Yankees, relievers Cionel Pérez and Yennier Cano worked together. Despite the Orioles holding a 4-1 lead, Cionel allowed the Yankees to narrow the gap by giving up two runs in the seventh inning. After allowing a double to Anthony Rizzo and a single to Alex Verdugo, Cionel was replaced by Yennier Cano. Cano then allowed a double to Gleyber Torres and a single to Juan Soto, bringing the score to 4-3.

Despite their shaky performances, both pitchers were credited with holds, marking the 22nd for Cionel and the 34th for Cano. Cionel has had inconsistent outings, posting a 4.30 ERA in 52 1/3 innings over 60 games. Cano, on the other hand, has a 2.76 ERA with 5 saves and a 63:22 SO:BB ratio in 68 games and 58 2/3 innings this season.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was back in the D-backs' lineup Tuesday.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. returned to the Arizona Diamondbacks' lineup on Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants. Unfortunately, the team suffered a significant 11-0 loss to the Giants in a crucial game for a Wild Card spot in the National League race. Gurriel had a 2-for-4 performance with a strikeout in the game. At 30 years old, Gurriel raised his batting average to .277 (138-for-499) and maintained an OPS of .752. Additionally, he has hit 18 home runs and delivered 72 RBIs this season.

In Tuesday’s victory against the Angels, Luis Robert recorded one hit in four at-bats and contributed with an RBI.

Luis Robert's RBI in the eighth inning helped the White Sox equalize the game and prevented them from suffering their 121st defeat, which would have set a new record. This hit was the sole one for Robert in the game, extending his streak of safely hitting in three of the last four matches.

Adolis García records multiple hits on Tuesday.

During Tuesday's 5-4 defeat against Oakland, Adolis García achieved a 2-for-5 performance, including a double. He also contributed with an RBI and a strikeout. The double marked his 27th of the season, resulting in his 81st RBI. Despite his .221 batting average and .671 OPS this year, García has been a reliable source of runs. Over his last seven games, he has a .310/.355/.483 slash line with a home run and 6 RBIs, maintaining a .221/.281/.390 slash line in September with 2 home runs and 17 RBIs.

Yordan Alvarez is aiming to have some plate appearances this weekend against the Guardians, as per Chandler Rome of The Athletic.

While recovering from a knee injury, Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez mentioned that he can now put more weight on his leg as of Tuesday, but he still cannot rotate his knee. Yordan expressed his desire to have some at-bats during the upcoming weekend series against the Cleveland Guardians, depending on the condition of the swelling in his knee. Following an MRI on Monday, the 27-year-old left-handed power hitter was diagnosed with a right-knee sprain. The timing of his injury is unfortunate for the Astros as they approach the playoffs next week, potentially missing one of their top hitters. If Yordan is unable to play this weekend against the Guardians, his availability for the postseason remains uncertain. In the meantime, Jason Heyward will see increased playing time in the outfield for Houston due to Yordan's injury.

For the second consecutive game on Tuesday against the Angels, Bryan Ramos was on the White Sox bench.

Yoán Moncada was not playing due to the need for Ramos to be in the lineup, but it appears there is no place for Ramos either. This marks the fourth time in six games that he has been sidelined. Gavin Sheets, on the other hand, has been included in the lineup for five of those games.
