He is scheduled to face Framber Valdéz on Tuesday. Arozarena enters today's game with a four-game hitting streak. Yordan Alvarez has been diagnosed with a sprained right knee, keeping him out of action until at least Friday, according to the Astros.
Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reported that Yordan's right knee injury has been confirmed as a sprain, which will sideline him for the next two games. While a return during the team's final series against the Guardians is a possibility, the Astros will keep Alvarez off the field for a few more days following the test results. In the meantime, Jon Singleton filled in at DH on Monday in place of Alvarez, with Victor Caratini playing first base. It is likely that these two players will continue to see playing time at their respective positions until Alvarez is ready to come back.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was benched on Monday.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was not playing in Monday's game against the Giants. Gurriel has been gradually reintroduced after recovering from a calf strain, and he will now be sitting out for the second time in four games since returning from the 10-day injured list on Friday. Pavin Smith took over in left field for Gurriel, who has recorded 3 hits, including a home run, a walk, two RBI, and two runs in his first two starts after coming back from injury.
