Cuban Players News for the 2025 Major League Baseball season. A compilation of several sources.

Adolis García gradually climbing the ranks.

Adolis García batted fifth and went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to Kansas City. He has been gradually moving back up the order after dropping to eighth, hitting from the fifth spot for the second consecutive game on Wednesday. Following a mental break between May and June, he has earned a promotion. Adolis is batting .327/.358/.490 over the 13 games since returning. Six of his last 11 hits have been for extra bases, and García has driven in eight runs over the last nine games.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. recorded two hits in four at-bats and drove in a run during Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. began the season slowly, but from May 1st onward, he has a batting average of .307/.367/.497, with six home runs, 15 runs scored, and 23 RBIs in four games. At 31 years old, he has a $13 million player option for next season, which means he might explore free agency in the off-season. If the Diamondbacks consider this a possibility, they might contemplate trading Gurriel by this year's deadline.

Andy Pagés' double and run performance aided the Dodgers in clinching a win over the Padres.

In the Dodgers' 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres, Andy Pagés contributed with a double and an RBI. He was also "intentionally" hit by a pitch. Pagés' performance against the Padres extended his hitting streak to five games. His season statistics now feature a .294 batting average, 12 doubles, and 50 RBIs across 71 games. In the last ten games, Pagés is hitting .306 with three home runs and 11 RBIs.

Yandy Díaz records two hits in victory against Orioles.

In the game against the Baltimore Orioles, Yandy Díaz recorded 2 hits, an RBI, and scored 2 runs, helping secure a 12-8 win. Díaz extended his hitting streak to nine games by going 2-for-5 against the Orioles. This performance increased his season hit total to 74 across 68 games. Over the past 10 games, Díaz has maintained a .405 batting average, showcasing his consistent on-base ability with an OPS of 1.087 during this period.

Yennier Cano gave up four runs in a disappointing defeat.

The Orioles' disappointing season persisted this Thursday with a 12-8 defeat against the Rays. After securing an 8-0 lead in the second inning, the team gradually lost their advantage, ultimately leaving the field with a 12-8 loss. The major setbacks occurred with Yennier Cano and Andrew Kittredge, who each surrendered four runs. Cano came in during the fifth inning when the Orioles were leading 8-4, but he allowed four hits, including a two-run triple by Taylor Walls and a two-run pinch-hit home run by Brandon Lowe, before achieving just two outs. This enabled the Rays to even the score at 8-8. Cano's performance affected his season statistics, leaving him with a 5.11 ERA over 30 games and an opponent batting average of .284, the second highest of his MLB career.

Raisel Iglesias delivers another scoreless performance.

Raisel Iglesias recorded one out in the Braves' 5-0 victory over the Mets. Although there was no save opportunity, Iglesias concluded the impressive performance by starter Chris Sale, securing the win for the Braves. This marked Iglesias' fourth consecutive appearance without surrendering a run, during which he maintained a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 4:0 over 3 2/3 innings. Through this outing, Iglesias continues to build confidence in his quest to reclaim the closer role he recently lost.

Randy Arozarena hits a double in the defeat against the Red Sox.

Randy Arozarena contributed with a double and a run scored in the Seattle Mariners' 3-1 defeat to the Boston Red Sox. In this game against the Red Sox, Arozarena recorded a hit, a double, a run scored, and a walk. This performance brought Arozarena to 58 hits in 257 at-bats this season, maintaining a .226 batting average. He has achieved 15 doubles and 38 walks over 71 games. While his on-base percentage (OBP) is .351, Arozarena's recent 3-game stretch shows a .100 average, indicating a decline compared to his overall season performance.

Yariel Rodríguez earns his ninth hold.

Yariel Rodríguez delivered two flawless innings in the Blue Jays' 8-1 victory over the D-backs. He struck out one batter, earning his ninth hold of the season. After overcoming a rough beginning to the season, he now boasts a 0.86 ERA over his last 15 games, which includes 21 innings pitched with a 20:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio, nine holds, one win, and one save.

Jorge Soler was not included in the lineup on Wednesday against the Yankees.

Jorge Soler missed Wednesday's game against the Yankees because of back stiffness, as reported by Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register. The Angels currently consider Soler day-to-day, indicating that while he won't participate on Wednesday, the issue doesn't appear to be severe. Soler has faced challenges throughout the season, with a batting line of just .207/.280/.350, alongside eight home runs, 26 RBI, and a 30 percent strikeout rate. This back issue might provide an opportunity to place him on the injured list for a brief reset.

Aroldis Chapman credited with a hold.

In Thursday's 3-1 win over the Mariners, Aroldis Chapman pitched the eighth inning for Boston. He executed a perfect inning, striking out one batter to earn his second hold of the season. Chapman's season statistics feature 13 saves in 34 games, a 1.45 ERA, and a 43:9 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Yordan Álvarez is improving.

Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Álvarez isn't taking swings yet, but he's reportedly feeling better. "It's a day-to-day situation; he feels significantly better," general manager Dana Brown stated on Wednesday. The Astros have suggested that Yordan's hand injury hasn't been very severe, but he hasn't played since May 5 and risks missing the remainder of the first half of the season if he doesn't start swinging soon. The 27-year-old All-Star is dealing with a fracture in his right hand, which might explain his .210/.306/.340 batting line, with just three home runs, 18 RBI, and seven runs scored in 100 at-bats. There's still no timeline for his return.
