Miguel Vargas went 2-for-5 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored on Tuesday evening, propelling the White Sox to a 5-1 victory over the Reds in 10 innings.
Vargas smacked a leadoff double off of Andrew Abbott in the fourth inning and scored the game’s first run on an RBI knock by Edgar Quero. He then broke it open with a 373-foot (101.7 mph EV) three-run blast off of Emilio Pagan in the 10th inning that increased the White Sox’ lead to 5-1. He's looked much better at the plate over the last few weeks, slashing .328/.414/.541 with three homers, nine RBI, 10 runs and a 9:7 BB:K in 17 games.
Overall, Vargas has picked up the pace considerably since his brutal start to the season and is now hitting .221/.314/.350 with three homers and 15 RBI on the season.
Aroldis Chapman pitched one scoreless inning.
Aroldis Chapman maintained his impressive performance in the 2025 season by pitching a scoreless inning during Boston's 10-9 loss to Detroit in extra innings. With the game tied, Chapman took the mound in the ninth inning, striking out one batter in a 12-pitch inning that included 9 strikes. This marked his third consecutive appearance without giving up a run, following a run allowed against Texas on May 7. His ERA for the year dropped to 1.76, with a 2-1 record and 6 saves over 17 games.
Edgar Quero continues to make an impact.
On Tuesday against the Reds, Edgar Quero had a strong performance, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. This marked his sixth multi-hit game of the season and his second with three hits. Since his debut on April 17, he has accumulated 77 plate appearances, maintaining a .303 average with a good 11:9 K:BB ratio.
Yandy Díaz is set to miss the three-game series with the Blue Jays because of a passport problem.
Yandy Díaz was added to the restricted list before Tuesday’s series opener in Canada due to a delay in renewing his passport, which could not be expedited. Jonathan Aranda will fill in at the cold corner during his absence. The 33-year-old veteran is expected to return for Friday’s game against the Marlins at loanDepot park. This season, Yandy has a slash line of .238/.291/.400, with six home runs, 20 RBIs, and two stolen bases over 40 games.
After missing two games due to soreness in his right knee, Luis Robert Jr. returned to start in center field on Tuesday.
Luis Robert Jr. batted fourth against left-hander Andrew Abbott, but he had a rough game, going 0-for-5 with a strikeout. Despite ongoing trade rumors, Robert's batting average has dropped to a disappointing .179 (24-for-134), with only 5 home runs and 16 RBIs. However, he remains tied for the lead in MLB steals with 16.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. with multi-hit performance.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-3 with a walk in the D-backs' 10-6 defeat to the Giants on Tuesday. Gurriel has achieved ten multi-hit games in 2025 and is hitting 15-for-47 (.319) with three home runs, five doubles, and ten RBIs in May. This productive period is helping him recover from a slow start to the season. The veteran outfielder is currently batting .224 with a .680 OPS, seven home runs, 25 RBIs, 14 runs scored, ten doubles, and one stolen base over 39 games.
Andy Pagés went hitless on Tuesday.

Pagés is currently experiencing his best MLB season, posting a .278/.333/.458 slash line with 6 home runs and 20 RBIs in a highly competitive and challenging Dodgers lineup. In his second MLB year, he is projected to exceed all his personal records, including last year's totals of 100 hits, 1 triple, 13 homers, 46 RBIs, and 29 walks.
Randy Arozarena hitless on Tuesday.
In an 11-inning game where the Mariners defeated the Yankees 2-1, Randy Arozarena struggled, finishing 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He faced ace Max Fried in his first two at bats, but struck out in his final two at-bats against the Yankees bullpen. Despite a challenging start to the season, Arozarena has improved, achieving a slash line of .300/.435/.440 with a home run, 3 RBIs, and 11 walks over his last 15 games.
Yordan Álvarez remained on the injured list and did not play in Tuesday’s game against the Royals.
Yordan Álvarez began batting on Monday as he progresses in his recovery from a muscle strain in his right hand. The Astros are likely to activate him once he feels ready, with Thursday being the most probable day for his return.
Néstor Cortés is currently engaged in a throwing program.
According to MLB.com, Néstor Cortés began playing catch again last week. After being placed on the injured list on April 6 due to a left elbow flexor strain, Cortés received a platelet-rich plasma injection and was sidelined for about a month before being allowed to start his throwing program. The Brewers have not yet confirmed that Cortés has been approved for mound work, so he is likely still working on increasing his throwing distance on flat ground. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 21 and will not be eligible to return to Milwaukee until early June.
