The Mets secured a spot in the National League Division Series thanks to Pete Alonso's home run, although José Iglesias failed to get a hit.


The Mets staged a remarkable comeback on Thursday, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 to secure a spot in the National League Division Series. The NLDS between the Mets and Philadelphia will kick off this Saturday. Trailing 2-0 in the ninth inning and facing elimination with two outs, New York mounted a comeback against closer Devin Williams, ultimately clinching a 4-2 victory over the Brewers. The inning started with a walk by Francisco Lindor, followed by a single from Brandon Nimmo, which set the stage for Pete Alonso's game-changing home run. Before Alonso's hit, Lindor was the only Mets player with two hits, while the rest of the team was a combined 0-for-24. Alonso's clutch home run gave the Mets a 3-2 lead, propelling them to the NL Division Series. For the Mets José Iglesias also played in the game, going 0-for-4 while batting behind Alonso and fielding at second and third base.
