The Cuban national team for the Pan American U23 Championship in Nicaragua has been announced

During the November 24-30 tournament, four spots will be available for the 2024 world championship in China



This Wednesday in Havana, it was announced the Cuban national team that will compete in the Pan-American U23 tournament in Managua, Nicaragua from November 24 to 30 under the helm of Santiago de Cuba's Eddy Cajigal.


Cuba's National Baseball Commission named a list of 24 men seeking one of the four World Cup tickets that are in dispute.


Cuba's 24 men are listed below


Pitchers (11): Dorvis L. Navarro Queralta, Alex D. Guerra Garcés, Randy Cueto Pérez, Rafael O. Perdomo Eizméndiz, José I. Grandales Rodríguez, Osdanis Rodríguez Obregón, Miguel A. Neira Mendoza, Orisbel Borges Pérez, Naikis Piedra González , Reynaldo A. Álvarez Domínguez and Albert Valladares Sánchez


Catchers (2): Andrys Pérez García and Leonardo Montero Alfonso


Infielders (7): Euclides E. Pérez Chiang, Guillermo García García, Christian L. Rodríguez García, Jean L. Baldoquín Martínez, Xiam Vega Urrutia, Adrián J. Pérez García and Yulieski M. Remón Tejeda


Outfielders (3): Dairon L. Blanco Colás, Alejandro J. Escobar Martínez, Darián Palma Fonseca and Carlos A. Monier Torres


Five players - in bold - are repeat players from Cuba's previous participation in the tournament in Aguascalientes, Mexico in 2022.


There will be 12 teams divided into two groups competing in a tournament that promises to be full of rivalries.


Teams from Mexico, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Argentina and Honduras are in Group A, while in Group B, Cuba is accompanied by Venezuela, Panama, Colombia, Curacao and Costa Rica.


Aguascalientes, Mexico hosted the previous edition of this pre-World Cup event in 2022, where Mexico beat Cuba 4-0 in the final to take the title. Nicaragua won the bronze medal with a 4-3 win over Venezuela.
