Yordan Álvarez (hand) was out of the Astros' lineup again on Wednesday versus the Rangers.

Álvarez hasn't played since Saturday due to lingering discomfort in both of his hands, though manager Dusty Baker told reporters Tuesday that the 25-year-old slugger is expected to avoid the injured list. He's sitting on a .294/.398/.597 batting line with 31 home runs and 80 RBI through 109 games this season.

Randy Arozarena went 3-for-5 with a solo home run while adding a pair of steals Tuesday versus the Marlins.

Arozarena had already stolen a couple bases before adding a cherry on top in the ninth inning with his 18th home run of the season. He's been outstanding in August with six homers, six steals and a .323 average. Arozarena continues to be one of the least efficient base stealers in the game, but that hasn't stopped him from continuing to run. The 27-year-old is locked in right now, reeling off three straight multi-hit efforts with half of his eight hits (three doubles and a homer) going for extra bases. That continues a hot stretch in which Arozarena has slashed .323/.422/.613 through 25 games in August with six homers, six steals, 15 runs and 23 RBI, and he's now just two home runs shy of his second straight 20-20 campaign.

Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports that the Dodgers will recall Miguel Vargas when MLB rosters expand on September 1.

Vargas was pulled from the lineup at Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday night and will head to New York to join the Dodgers ahead of Thursday's series finale versus the host Mets. He showed some nice flashes in his first taste of MLB action earlier this month and boasts a .304/.402/.511 slash line with 17 home runs and 16 stolen bases in 112 games this summer at OKC. The 22-year-old can also play all over the diamond defensively.

Yasmani Grandal (knee) is expected to be activated on Wednesday.

Grandal has been hitting the ball well on his minor league rehab assignment, though there is still some concern about how much he is going to be able to catch down the stretch as he completes his recovery from a left knee strain. Eloy Jiménez has been filling the DH role for Chicago as of late.

Jay's Lourdes Gurriel Jr.: Hitless on Tuesday.

Gurriel Jr. went 0-for-4 in a 5-3 victory against the Cubs Tuesday night. The young outfielder is slashing .292/.342/.400 with 5 HR, 50 runs scored, and 51 RBI this year.

Luis Robert (wrist) was out of the White Sox lineup again on Tuesday.

Robert hasn't started a game for the White Sox since last Thursday due to a lingering left wrist injury, though he is said to be making steady progress with his side workouts. Andrew Vaughn, AJ Pollock, and Gavin Sheets are starting across the outfield Tuesday versus the visiting Royals.

White Sox's José Abreu: Hitting .309 now.

José Abreu's BA ascended to .309 this year - second in the American League - , after going 2-for-5 on Tuesday night 9-7 loss to the Royals. Abreu singled twice for his multi-hit game #45 of the year, and is now slashing .309/.385/.455 with 14 HR and 60 RBI this season.

Rockies' José Iglesias: Another multi-hit game.

Iglesias was 2-for-5 Tuesday in a 3-2 win against the Braves. Iglesias had his double #30 of the year and his muti-hit game #32. He has a slash line of .307/.343/.402 with 3 HR and 47 RBI this season.

Yordan Álvarez (hand) remained out of the Astros' starting lineup on Tuesday.

Álvarez is getting treatment for a new injury to his left hand, after also missing chunks of time this year because of issues with his right hand. The goal will be to have the young slugger as healthy as possible leading into October, which is sure to cause more and more frustration for fantasy mangers in the closing weeks.

Astros' Yulieski Gurriel: Hitless against the Rangers.

On Tuesday night Gurriel went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in a 4-2 victory against the Rangers. Gurriel is having a bad season after winning the batting title last year, slashing .243/.292/.368 with 7 HR and 40 RBI.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Aroldis Chapman (leg) has been feeling "a lot better" over the 24 to 36 hours.

Chapman landed on the injured list last weekend due to a left leg infection stemming from a recent tattoo. Boone added that the Yankees expect the veteran left-hander to return this season, but there isn't an exact timetable for his return at the moment. At the very least, it's a positive sign he's feeling better and seemingly trending in the right direction.

Reds' José Barrero: Sat again Tuesday. Barrero wasn't in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals. This marks consecutive games on the bench for Barrero, who has gone 4-for-33 with no extra-base hits in his last 10 contests. Kyle Farmer started at shortstop Tuesday while Alejo López was at third base.
