Giants released LHP Darién Núñez.
Núñez will head to free agency just a few days after being claimed off release waivers by the Giants from the division-rival Dodgers. The 29-year-old left-hander made six relief appearances last year at the major-league level. He's expected to miss the remainder of the 2022 campaign and be sidelined for a portion of the 2023 season as well.
Nationals signed SS Alfredo Rodriguez to a minor league contract.
Rodriguez will provide the Nationals with some organizational infield depth this season. The 27-year-old shortstop hit .283/.333/.354 with three homers and two stolen bases across 453 plate appearances last year at Triple-A Louisville in the Reds' minor-league system.

Yordan Álvarez went 3-for-5 with a homer, three RBI and a walk Friday as the Astros topped the Blue Jays 11-7.
Álvarez is 9-for-18 with two homers and a 3/4 K/BB ratio in his last five games, raising his average from .158 to .273 and his OPS from .659 to .947. He should settle in as one of the AL's best hitters the rest of the way.
Néstor Cortés gave up one earned run over five innings in Friday's win over the Royals.
He also gave up eight hits and struck out three. After Salvador Pérez hit an RBI double off of Cortés in the bottom of the first, Cortés allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the second following a passed ball by Kyle Higashioka. The crafty southpaw has a sparkling 1.31 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and 28/3 K/BB through 20 2/3 innings. Next up is a Wednesday night away matchup against the Blue Jays.
Yuli Gurriel went -3-for-5 on Friday against the Blue Jays.
Gurriel crushed his second double of the season off starter Kikuchi, and had his fourth RBI of the year. He also struck-out once. The 37-year-old first baseman is now hitting .234/.246/.375 for the year.
Raisel Iglesias got a two-out save Friday against the White Sox.
It's the night of one- and two-out saves. Iglesias got his after Mike Mayers allowed a single in a four-run game in the ninth. He's pitched on back-to-back days now, so he probably won't be available Saturday. In truth, the Angels could be lacking most of their best relievers tomorrow, so having rain in the forecast could work out for them.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 1-for-3 in a 11-7 loss to the Astros on Friday night.
The younger Gurriel went 1-for-3 with a run. He also walked batting in the cleanup spot for the Jays. Gurriel Jr. is .276/.321/.421 for the season with 2 HR and 10 RBI.
Yandy Díaz and Randy Arozarena in opposing nights.
Díaz went 2-for-4 against the Twins on Friday night. He also had his fourth RBI of the season and scored a run. Díaz is slashing .309/.441/.400 for the Rays this year. On the other hand, Arozarena had a bad night going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and a walk. The Cuban outfielder is having a difficult start to the season, his slash line is .192/.234/.274 and have no homers, 4 RBI, and 3 steals.
José Iglesias hitting streak continues.
Iglesias hitting streak continues. On Friday night the Cuban shortstop went 2-for-5 in a 10-4 win against the Reds. Iglesias added his 4th double of the season and his fourth RBI. Las night was his fourth consecutive hitting game. Since he arrived in Colorado to replace Trevor Story Iglesias is slashing .339/.383/.411.
Jorge Soler hit a 468-foot homer off the Mariners' Matt Brash on Friday.
Soler hit some balls hard Thursday, but he went unrewarded. Tonight, he absolutely crushed a fastball right down the middle; it left the bat at 117.6 mph for the second hardest-hit ball of his career. He also drew a walk in the contest.
Luis Robert went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Friday in his return to the White Sox' lineup.
Robert may require a few games to ramp back up after missing six consecutive contests due to a strained groin. The 24-year-old outfielder holds an underwhelming .188/.204/.354 triple-slash line with seven runs scored, two home runs, three RBI and five stolen bases across 49 plate appearances.
Adolis García hit HR#4 of the year and Andy Ibáñez added two singles.
Adolis García went 1-for-4 Friday night in a 6-3 loss against the Braves. His only hit was his 4th home run of the year adding two RBI. He also scored a run. The Texas's center fielder also misplayed a line drive in the top of the third inning for an inside-the-park homer. García's BA is .203 for the year but has 14 RBI and a .419 SLG. In the same game, Texas' third baseman Andy Ibáñez went 2-for-3 lifting his BA to .255 for the season.
