Yordan Álvarez powered up again Wednesday against the Mets, popping a pair of solo home runs.

As is the case with most of Álvarez's home runs, these were not cheapies. He followed Alex Bregman with the second of back-to-back blasts in the first inning, launching one 408 feet at 113.8 mph off the bat. Álvarez then one-upped himself in the third with a 412-foot shot which came off the bat at 114.6 mph. Fans were probably a little nervous when Álvarez missed a game Sunday with a hand injury, but he's now come back with three dingers in his last two games. His 1.064 OPS leads baseball and only Aaron Judge with 27 has more homers than Álvarez's 21.

Padres' Adrián Morejón: Got first win of the season.

LHP reliever Adrián Morejón completed 1 1/3 on relief in a 10-4 win against the D-backs. Morejón threw 26 pitches - 16 strikes - with a walk, a single, and allowed an unearned run, to earn his first win of the season and third of his young MLB career. He has pitched only 4 2/3 innings this season after coming back from a Tommy John surgery. Morejón could be an important piece in the Padres bullpen if the team gets to the 2022 postseason.

White Sox's José Abreu: Got on base three times on Wednesday.

Abreu went 1-for-3 and walked twice on Wednesday's 9-5 loss to the Blue Jays. The veteran first baseman also scored a run and is slashing .262/.363/.431 this year with 9 HR and 32 RBI.

Astros' Yulieski Gurriel: Hitless on Wednesday.

Yuli Gurriel went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday's 5-3 win against the Mets. Gurriel continues struggling at the plate and a day off will definitely help him. Gurriel's BA is now .215.

Cardinals' Johan Oviedo: Picks up win Wednesday. Oviedo (1-1) struck out three over 2.1 perfect innings to earn the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Brewers. Oviedo relieved starter Adam Wainwright with two outs and two runners in scoring position in the fifth inning. He escaped that jam with a groundout, then continued to pitch well in the sixth and seventh while the Cardinals pulled ahead. Oviedo has now gone 6.1 innings without allowing a run while working in a multi-inning relief role. The 24-year-old right-hander has a 3.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB across 15 innings in six outings (one start). He'll likely continue to mop up innings when the Cardinals' starters have short outings.

Mets' Yoán López: Scoreless on relief.

RHP reliever Yoán López pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings on Wednesday in a 5-3 loss to the Astros. López came in relief of starter Carlos Carrasco, and ended up throwing 29 pitches - 20 strikes - during his outing. He struck out one and allowed one single before being replaced in the sixth. López has 4 appearances this year with 6 2/3 innings pitched, 6 strikeouts and an ERA of 4.05.

Marlins' Soler: Homers in Marlins 7-4 win.

Jorge Soler went 1-for-3 with his 13 home run of the season, in a 7-4 victory over the Rockies. Soler launched his homer in the seventh inning against lefty reliever Austin Gomber. The homer traveled 403 feet, had an exit velocity of 103.2 mph, and gave the Marlins a 7-1 lead in the game. With the homer, the 30-year-old slugger is now slashing .221/.315/.443 with 13 homers and 31 RBI this season. In the same game, Rockies' shortstop José Iglesias went 1-for-3, leaving his BA in .304 for the year.

White Sox manager Tony La Russa told reporters after Wednesday's game that Luis Robert is considered day-to-day with leg soreness.

Luis Robert was removed from Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to an apparent leg injury. Robert had been 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI before exiting in the eighth inning. Earlier in the contest, on his RBI single, he appeared to be hobbling into first base as if he had suffered some sort of leg injury. While he remained in the game for another few innings, the decision was ultimately made to get him out of there. La Russa downplayed the issue and said that he considered keeping him in the game for another at-bat, but ultimately erred on the side of caution. He expects that Robert will return to the lineup on Thursday.

Nats' Yadiel Hernández: Went 1-for-3 against the Orioles.

In the last game of the so-called Beltway Series, the Orioles beat the Nats 7-0 in a shortened game due to rain. In the game, Yadiel Hernández went 1-for-3 and grounded into a double play once. Hernández' slash line is .270/.314/.393 with 4 HR and 25 RBI this year.

Ray's Yandy Díaz and Randy Arozarena: Almost identical performance to Tuesday night.

On Wednesday Díaz and Arozarena had almost identical performances to Tuesday night. The pair combined for a 1-for-8 night in a trilling 5-4 loss to the Yankees. Díaz walked while Arozarena singled and was caught at second base trying to make it a double. Arozarena also struck out twice.

Jays' Lourdes Gurriel Jr.: Another multi-hit game.

Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-4 against the White Sox in a 9-5 victory and added his ninth multi-hit game of June. His recent consistency had helped him to lift his BA to .279 for the year, compiling a .400/.429/.567 slash line in the last 15 games.

Aledmys Díaz (shoulder) was available off the bench Wednesday versus the Mets.

Díaz came down with a bit of left shoulder discomfort over the weekend, but he was in the cage on Wednesday morning and told reporters afterward that he was "ready for the game" on Wednesday afternoon. Mauricio Dubón got the start at shortstop and batted ninth, but Diaz was ready to appear at some point, however, he didn't.
