Cuban Players News for the 2025 Major League Baseball season. A compilation of several sources.

Randy Arozarena had two hits in four at-bats, including a double, with an RBI and three runs scored on Sunday as the Mariners dominated the Athletics.

The energetic 30-year-old outfielder began the bottom of the first inning with a single and scored on Cal Raleigh’s first home run of the game. He later hit an RBI double off Jacob Lopez in the second inning and scored again on another two-run homer by Raleigh. Arozarena was also hit by a pitch in the third inning and quickly scored on a two-run double by Josh Naylor. This season, he’s batting .240/.340/.446 with 24 home runs, 61 RBIs, and 24 stolen bases.

Raisel Iglesias secures his 22nd save.

Raisel Iglesias secured the save in Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Mets, surrendering one run on three hits in the ninth inning. He didn't issue a walk or record a strikeout. Iglesias was responsible for maintaining a two-run lead in the ninth and managed to do so despite allowing three consecutive one-out singles. This was the first time the veteran closer has given up a run in his last 14 appearances, and he has now successfully converted 11 consecutive save opportunities since July 28. For the season, he is 22-for-27 in save chances with a 3.95 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and a 58:10 K:BB ratio over 54.2 innings.

Edgar Quero drives in three runs.

On Sunday against the Twins, Edgar Quero went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs. Over the past 10 days, Quero has been starting every other game, creating a strong partnership with Kyle Teel as catchers. Quero has performed well when included in the lineup, in 14 games during August, he has a 15-for-49 record, with one home run, eight RBI, and four runs scored.

Víctor Mederos to the IL following disappointing performance.

The Angels placed Víctor Mederos on the 15-day injured list on Sunday due to inflammation in his right shoulder. Mederos made his third start of the season during Saturday's 12-1 defeat to the Cubs and was credited with the loss after allowing six earned runs on four hits and two walks over four innings. After the game, Mederos informed Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register that his shoulder felt unusual towards the end of his outing, leading the Angels to deactivate him as they seek further information about the injury. Mederos is anticipated to undergo an MRI in the coming days before the Angels announce a possible timeline for his return.

Miguel Vargas and Luis Robert Jr. each had a one-hit performance.

Miguel Vargas and Luis Robert Jr. each contributed one hit on Sunday as the White Sox secured an 8-0 win over the Twins. Vargas went 1-for-3, scoring two runs, drawing a walk, and striking out once. Luis Robert had a 1-for-4 day with a strikeout. Vargas has been performing well, going 16-for-57 with a home run, 7 RBIs, 12 runs scored, and 9 walks over his last 15 games. Meanwhile, Luis Robert, who hit his 14th home run of the season on Saturday, boasts a .310/.333/.552 slash line in his last seven games, with 2 homers and 6 RBIs.

Yandy Díaz went hitless in return.

Yandy Díaz started at first base and batted third Sunday against the Cardinals. Yandy sustained a low-grade hamstring strain in the series opener versus St. Louis on Thursday and sat out Friday's 10-6 win, but he returned to the lineup following Saturday's team off day. He went 0-for-4. The first baseman has collected at least one hit in eight of his past 11 games and has five multi-hit efforts during that span.

Adolis García hits a double in the victory.

Adolis García recorded his 25th double of the season in the Rangers' 5-0 victory over the Guardians. In total, Adolis went 1-for-2, drew two walks, and scored a run. Since coming back from the IL on Saturday, he has gone 2-for-6, with both hits being extra-base hits—a home run (#17) on Saturday and a double—along with two RBIs and two runs scored.

On Sunday, Pirates’ manager Don Kelly announced that Johan Oviedo will be starting today against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

The 27-year-old hurler has made two starts for the Pirates this season, posting a 4.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 9/4 K/BB ratio over six innings of work. It’s a decent matchup for streaming purposes, though it’s unclear how deeply Oviedo will work into the ballgame, so his chances of earning a victory could be diminished.

Andy Pagés recorded a hit on Sunday.

The Dodgers secured an 8-2 victory over the Padres, with Andy Pagés going 1-for-4. He scored a run and struck out twice while covering center and right field. Despite an outstanding season, Pagés is experiencing a brief downturn late in the season, hitting .154/.214/.308 with one home run, one RBI, and eight strikeouts over his last seven games. This season, he has accumulated 21 homers and 71 RBIs.

Yariel Rodríguez with issues in outing.

Yariel Rodríguez faced issues again in his outing on Sunday, during the Blue Jays' 5-3 loss to the Marlins. Pitching in the seventh inning, Yariel allowed two hits, including an RBI single by Agustín Ramírez, and issued a walk, sealing the Marlins' fifth run. One of his issues in the game was his lack of control, throwing 24 pitches and only 13 of them in the strike zone. Yariel hasn't had the same effectiveness he achieved midseason, seeing his ERA rise from 2.21 in July 29 to the current 3.39. In the last 15 games, Yariel has posted a 6.59 ERA in 15 outings with 10 earned runs in 13 2/3 innings. Most concerning is his 8:10 SO:BB ratio during that period.

Yoán Moncada took a break on Sunday.

Yoán Moncada was out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs. After starting each of the past five games and going 4-for-20 with three solo home runs, Moncada received a breather for the series finale.

Yordan Álvarez set to make his return on Tuesday.

Manager Joe Espada stated on Sunday that there's a "strong possibility" Yordan will return from the 60-day injured list when the Astros start their homestand against the Rockies on Tuesday, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic. Yordan is expected to make his fourth and likely final rehab game for Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday. In his first three games in the minors, he has started twice as a designated hitter and once in left field, achieving a 5-for-11 record with three doubles, three runs, one RBI, one stolen base, and a 2:2 BB:K ratio. Yordan initially injured his right hand during a swing in late April but continued to play through the injury until he was placed on the IL on May 5.
