Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a three-run home run against the Rockies on Thursday.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer, a walk, and a stolen base in Thursday's 8-2 victory over the Rockies. After sitting out Wednesday following an 0-for-8 performance in the first two games against the Rangers, Gurriel returned to the starting lineup Thursday and quickly made an impact with a first-inning home run. The outfielder has now hit 15 home runs this season, including three in 13 games in August. He has also contributed 62 RBIs, 41 runs, 10 steals, 22 doubles, two triples, and a .244/.294/.406 slash line over 112 games.
Raisel Iglesias recorded a strikeout during a scoreless ninth inning, securing a save in the game against the Mets on Thursday.
On Thursday against the Mets, Raisel Iglesias earned his 17th save, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning. Iglesias extended his streak of not allowing a run to ten consecutive appearances, marking his sixth perfect inning during this stretch. This scoreless streak came after Iglesias' fifth blown save of the season. Throughout 49.2 innings this year, Iglesias has a 4.17 ERA with a 54:10 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Randy Arozarena did not get any hits on Thursday.
In Thursday's 5-3 defeat against the Orioles, Randy Arozarena went 0-for-4, drew a walk, and recorded his 58th RBI of the season. This outcome stretched the Cuban/Mexican player's hitless streak to 11 consecutive at-bats. Arozarena aims for a 25/25 or possibly a 30/30 season, currently boasting 23 home runs and 23 stolen bases over 120 games and 522 plate appearances. In 2025, his slash line stands at .246/.347/.458.
Jorge Soler is still not doing baseball activities.
According to MLB.com, Jorge Soler has not yet resumed baseball activities. Soler has been sidelined for over three weeks, having last played on July 23 against the Mets. The veteran outfielder has experienced back issues multiple times this year, so the Angels might be choosing to allow him ample recovery time given their current standing (they are five games behind a wild-card spot with three teams ahead of them in the race for the final position). During Soler's absence, Jo Adell has been starting most games in right field, while Bryce Teodosio has become a regular in the lineup in center field.
