Cuban Players News for the 2025 Major League Baseball season. A compilation of several sources.

Raisel Iglesias records three strikeouts in another clean appearance.
During the Braves' 5-1 defeat to the Angels, Raisel Iglesias took the mound in the ninth inning, despite it being a clear non-save situation. He finished the inning by allowing just one hit and striking out the other three batters. This marked the Cuban's ninth straight scoreless appearance, a streak that began on June 9, after he gave up three earned runs against the D-backs on June 5. Over this period, Iglesias has pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing six hits while maintaining an impressive 11:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The Braves might soon reinstate Iglesias as their closer, given his nine saves in 2025 and a total of 233 in his career,
or have him transferred to another team in a highly likely scenario before the trade deadline on July 31.
Jorge Soler went hitless.
After hitting his 200th career home run on Wednesday, Jorge Soler had a difficult night, going 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts in the Angels' 5-1 win over the Braves. Soler also drew a walk. The burly 33-year-old continues a disappointing season, compiling a .206/.285/.360 slash line with 20 extra-base hits, including 11 doubles and 9 home runs. Soler has just 29 RBIs and 85 strikeouts in 70 games and 278 plate appearances.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has recorded hits in five consecutive games.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. recorded a hit in one of his four at-bats, hitting a double in Thursday's 7-2 defeat against San Francisco. Gurriel was one of only three Diamondbacks to get a hit off Giants left-hander Robbie Ray. He managed to hit safely in all four games of the series against San Francisco, including two home runs, and his double extended his hitting streak to five games overall. Gurriel is tied for third on the team with 16 doubles and has a .251/.299/.422 slash line over 81 games.
Miguel Vargas nightmare continues.
It's time for the White Sox to stop making Miguel Vargas's offensive slump more difficult and give him at least a one-series break. In the 6-2 loss to the Dodgers, Vargas extended his hitless streak to 19 after going 0-for-4. Since June 19, when Vargas went 0-for-5 against the Cardinals in the second game of a doubleheader, the Cuban hasn't found his rhythm, and in that 14-game stretch, he has a .113/.203/.170 slash line with just six hits in 53 at-bats, while he has no home runs, three RBIs, and 12 strikeouts.
Randy Arozarena hitless on Thursday.
After hitting four home runs in three games, Randy Arozarena went hitless on Thursday in the Mariners' 3-2 loss to the Royals. Arozarena finished 0-for-4 with one strikeout. Aside from this, Arozarena has rebounded from a difficult 2025 season, with a recent streak that has him hitting .301/.379/.513 with 20 runs, 5 home runs, 17 RBIs, and 6 stolen bases in his last 30 games. The Cuban-Mexican now has a .791 OPS on the season with 12 HRs and 40 RBIs.
Yordan Álvarez had injections administered in his right hand on Wednesday.
The injections will prevent Yordan from engaging in baseball activities in the near future. He recently consulted a hand specialist, who noted “notable progress” in the imaging compared to prior weeks. The 28-year-old was added to the 60-day injured list, but this was merely a procedural action to open a spot on the 40-man roster. However, there is no set timeline for Yordan's return, and it would be unexpected if he came back before the All-Star break.
Andy Pagés no-hits in victory.
The Dodgers completed a three-game sweep of the White Sox on Thursday night, and Andy Pagés had a no-hit night. Pagés went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, seeing his excellent batting line drop to .289/.326/.503. The Cuban, having a breakthrough season in MLB, has been on fire in his last 15 games, hitting four home runs and driving in 12 runs with a .322/.339/.593 slash line.
