Cuban Players News for the 2025 Major League Baseball season. A compilation of several sources.

Yariel Rodríguez Secures Victory Against Red Sox.

Yariel Rodríguez clinched the victory for the Toronto Blue Jays by pitching 1 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out one, leading to a 5-3 win over the Red Sox. In his 33rd appearance of the 2025 season, he surrendered one hit and struck out one batter. This victory is Yariel's second of the season. Over 40 2/3 innings pitched this season, he has achieved a 2.66 ERA and a WHIP of 0.86, along with 38 strikeouts over 39 innings.

Andy Pagés with multi-hit game.

Andy Pagés showcased an impressive performance, hitting 2-for-4 with a double and scoring twice in the Dodgers' 5-1 victory over the Royals. His two hits out of four at-bats, featuring a key double, were instrumental in the Dodgers' success. This game elevated his season average to .291, along with a robust .828 OPS across 81 games. In his last ten games, Pagés has maintained a .333 batting average, and his season stats include 14 doubles and 16 home runs.

Randy Arozarena's three runs propel team to victory over Rangers.

Randy Arozarena played a key role in the Seattle Mariners' 6-4 triumph over the Texas Rangers, contributing 2 hits and scoring 3 runs. Arozarena's performance was pivotal in the Mariners' victory, as he also drew a walk, enhancing his on-base percentage for the evening. This season, Arozarena maintains a .241 batting average and an OPS of .752 over 81 games. Despite a recent slump, his batting consistency has been more pronounced on the road, with a .265 average compared to .195 at home.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. recorded a hit.

In the D-backs' 6-4 defeat against the Marlins, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. managed to go 1-for-4 and scored a run. This game marked his first hit since June 25th. Before his lone single yesterday, Gurriel had been struggling, going 0-for-11. Over his last seven games, he has a disappointing batting average of .138/.194/.172.

Raisel Iglesias delivered another inning without allowing any runs.

Raisel Iglesias pitched a scoreless ninth inning in the Braves' 2-1 defeat to the Phillies, striking out one batter. This marked Iglesias' eighth consecutive scoreless appearance this month, following a loss on June 5 where he allowed three runs against the D-backs. With the Braves currently lacking a designated closer, Iglesias appears poised to reclaim his role as the team's primary closer. However, his season statistics remain unimpressive, with a 5.28 ERA, nine saves, and a 4-5 record.

Adolis García went hitless.

In a 6-4 loss to the Mariners, Adolis García went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts. This marked his second straight game without a hit, accumulating six strikeouts over that span. Adolis now has 11 consecutive plate appearances without a hit, including seven strikeouts. Despite this, he is still having his best month of the season, batting .253/.299/.391 with 2 home runs and 15 RBIs.

Yandy Díaz recorded a hit.

Yandy Díaz went 1-for-3 during the Rays' 5-1 defeat against the Orioles on Sunday. He also drew a walk and struck out once. After his 15-game hitting streak ended last Thursday, Yandy has begun a new streak with hits in three consecutive games. His batting line for June is an impressive .406/.477/.625, along with 5 home runs, 16 runs scored, and 13 RBIs.

The White Sox have put OF Luis Robert Jr. on the 10-day injured list due to a left hamstring strain, effective retroactively from June 26.

With less than an hour before the first pitch on Sunday afternoon, Chicago has opted to place Robert on the injured list, ending any hope that he might be ready for Tuesday’s series opener against the Dodgers. The 27-year-old center fielder has been dealing with a left hamstring issue recently and is likely to miss at least a couple of weeks, even if imaging only shows a mild strain. The timing of the injury certainly complicates trade matters, as Robert was expected to be one of the more prominent names on the move at next month’s deadline.

Adrián Morejón failed to secure a hold.

Adrián Morejón was credited with a blown save on Sunday in the Padres' 3-2 loss to the Reds on Sunday. Morejón entered in the sixth inning with two runners on and the Padres leading 1-0, allowing Elly de la Cruz to single to left field, tying the game at 1-1. He then retired Austin Hays with a pop out to first base to end the inning, but the Padres ultimately lost in the bottom of the ninth inning. This was Morejón's third blown save of the season, during which he maintains a 1.96 ERA with a 4-3 record, two saves, and a 33:6 SO:BB ratio.

Yordan Álvarez advanced to participating in on-field batting practice before Sunday's game against the Cubs.

This marks an important step for Yordan, as he seems to be on the verge of returning to Houston’s lineup after being out for nearly two months due to a small fracture in his right hand. Although the 28-year-old player doesn’t have a specific return date yet, his advancement to on-field hitting without any setbacks indicates he is very close to getting back into game action.

Miguel Vargas went hitless.

On Sunday, Miguel Vargas did not get any hits in the 5-2 win against the Giants. He went 0-for-3, drew a walk, scored a run, and struck out once. Vargas is currently experiencing a slump, batting just .175/.266/.316 with one home run, four RBIs, and 11 strikeouts over his last 15 games. For the season, he has accumulated 10 home runs, 34 RBIs, and 4 stolen bases.

Daysbel Hernández starts rehabilitation assignment.

Daysbel Hernández delivered a flawless inning, striking out one batter during his initial rehab outing with Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. Daysbel has been sidelined since early June due to inflammation in his right forearm. Given the short duration of his absence, the reliever is not expected to need many rehab appearances before being removed from the 15-day injured list. If everything proceeds smoothly, he is likely to return to the Atlanta bullpen later this week.

Johan Oviedo has been approved to start a rehab assignment.

Johan Oviedo has been assigned to the rookie-level Florida Complex Pirates to start a rehab assignment. Oviedo missed the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery and subsequently experienced a right lat strain during spring training. Considering the length of time since he last pitched in games, Oviedo is expected to utilize all 30 days available for his rehab assignment before the Pirates contemplate adding him to their roster. The 27-year-old still has minor-league options available, so he might remain in the minors instead of rejoining the major league team if the Pirates determine he's not ready to contribute at the major-league level.
