Luis Robert Jr. put the White Sox on the scoreboard and tied the game at two runs each with a 378-foot two-run homer off Logan Allen in the second inning. That was all the scoring they managed in the game. Describing the first half of the season as rough for the 27-year-old outfielder would be an understatement. He is batting a dismal .187/.272/.323 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases in his first 294 plate appearances.
Adolis Garcia hit 2-for-5, including a home run, in the game against the Astros on Friday.
Adolis Garcia hit his 12th home run of the year. The 32-year-old outfielder launched a solo homer off Lance McCullers in the third inning. He currently has a batting average of .234, an OPS of .675, and 54 RBIs this season. Recently involved in trade rumors, Adolis could be the team's most valuable trade asset.
In Friday's 6-5 victory over the Cardinals, Raisel Iglesias earned the save by not allowing any baserunners in the ninth inning and striking out one batter.
It's important to note that Dylan Lee might have been unavailable after pitching the last two days and suffering a blown save in Thursday's loss to the Athletics. Nonetheless, Iglesias is definitely improving and striving to reclaim his closer role, having had a 6.75 ERA as of June 5. The experienced right-hander hasn't allowed a run over his last 11.2 innings, during which he has a 0.60 WHIP and a 16:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Jorge Soler did not play on Friday.
According to Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com, Jorge Soler was not included in the lineup for Friday's game against Arizona. Soler, who is on a four-game hitting streak, took a rest day on Friday against Ryne Nelson and the D-backs.
Yordan Alvarez has not yet been cleared to start swinging again.
The Astros have not yet given Yordan Alvarez the green light to start swinging again. according to Brian McTaggart on Twitter. For now, it's a wait-and-see situation for Alvarez, with no set timetable for his return.
Nestor Cortes Pitches Four Shutout Innings.
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Nestor Cortes (elbow) continued his rehabilitation with High-A Wisconsin on Thursday. The left-hander pitched four scoreless innings, giving up three hits, with no walks and two strikeouts. Cortes threw just 54 pitches in this session, as the Brewers are cautious not to overexert him early in his rehab. After the game, Cortes mentioned he would have at least one more rehab start, but will likely pitch in two games before rejoining the Brewers' rotation. He is expected to be ready to return before the end of July.
Luis D. Morales Transitioning to Bullpen at Triple-A Las Vegas
Athletics right-handed pitching prospect Luis D. Morales has recently moved into a bullpen position at Triple-A Las Vegas. After recording a 5.90 ERA over six starts since his promotion in late May, the A's have transitioned Morales into a multi-inning relief role for his last four appearances. The initial results have been promising. Morales has given up just two earned runs on eight hits over nine innings from the bullpen, demonstrating improved effectiveness in shorter outings. The 22-year-old possesses a lively fastball that can reach 99 mph, along with a slider, curveball, and changeup in his repertoire. The Athletics might be preparing Morales for a late-season relief role or adjusting his long-term path toward a high-leverage bullpen position.
Lazaro Montes maintains strong power performance.
Lazaro Montes, the outfield prospect for the Seattle Mariners, continued to showcase his power on Thursday evening. Against Double-A Tula, the promising player went 1-for-4, hitting a home run and striking out twice. This marks his second home run in the last three games. Since being promoted to Double-A Arkansas, Montes has achieved an impressive .273/.388/.636 slash line, including one double and five home runs. Ranked as the No. 29 prospect on MLB.com, he started the season in High-A and needed only 67 games to earn his promotion. During that period, Montes maintained a .269/.387/.572 slash line with 12 doubles and 18 home runs. Altogether, Montes' 23 home runs this season place him in a tie for the most in the minor leagues alongside Ryan Ward of the Dodgers.
