Earlier this season, Vargas had a .139/.236/.203 batting average in his first 22 games and might have been sent down if he had options left. However, in his last 20 games, he has improved to a .351/.422/.622 average with five home runs and 13 RBIs. Vargas has started four consecutive games and gone 8-for-18 with three homers, seven RBI and four runs scored. After a very slow start to the season, overall he has a .731 OPS with five home runs, 19 RBI and 19 runs scored across 42 games.
Raisel Iglesias secured his eighth save with some problems.

The Braves led 2-1 entering the ninth inning, but the Red Sox chose not to deploy one of their top two relievers to maintain the one-run deficit. The Braves then scored two additional insurance runs, providing their unsteady closer with crucial breathing space. Iglesias' inconsistent beginning to the season persisted, with him allowing five runs on 11 hits in his last five appearances. Out of the veteran right-hander's 19 games, only six have been without any runs. Iglesias currently holds a 5.89 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP for the season, though he boasts a 20:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio and has successfully converted eight of his 11 save opportunities as Atlanta's closer. It was Iglesias 232nd career save, placing him 43rd on the all-time list, merely two saves behind fellow active player Edwin Díaz.

After having a concerning 8.44 ERA on April 12, just a month later, he has improved to a respectable 3.86 ERA for the season.

Since Víctor Mederos joined Salt Lake following a short stint in the major leagues last month, he has been performing exceptionally well, giving up just three runs over 17 2/3 innings in three starts. The 23-year-old, who has only appeared as a reliever in his brief major league appearances since his 2023 debut, is now a potential candidate for the rotation if a spot becomes available.
