Havana - Cuba today rejected its exclusion from the 2026 Caribbean Series of Baseball, which will be played in Mexico.
In a statement published in X and sent to the media, its baseball and softball federation called the decision unfair and criticized the conduct of the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation.
Due to its importance, JIT reproduces it in its entirety.
INFORMATION FROM THE CUBAN BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL FEDERATION
We consider the exclusion of Cuba from the 2026 Caribbean Series of Baseball, which will definitely be played in Mexico, to be disrespectful.
Although the invitation received originated from Venezuela, as the original host of this edition, it was endorsed by the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC), the governing body of the tournament, of which our country is a founder.
Added to this is the fact that this entity has not maintained any communication with the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation about such an important decision, which undermines the commitments established and the design approved by our country to assume it.
The change of scenario does not justify the non-participation of Cuba, which, moreover, deserves and demands respectful treatment, especially given that it is such a sensitive situation for our sport.
